The Learning Tree promotes healthy eating by offering children opportunities to eat snack when the shop is open using The Learning Tree currency. The children are offered a large variety of meals which are cooked in our 5 star rating kitchen. The children help to set up for mealtimes, serve themselves, wash their dishes after eating and are involved in the cleaning up. Children have the opportunity to grow their own food as part of an annual Garden Kitchen programme. Children are given the opportunity to try new foods and experience handling food in a variety of ways.

Children are given opportunities to cook indoors and outdoors on an open fire throughout the year.

Our children are supported to be emotionally strong. We give them the tools to help them understand their emotions and to express what they are feeling. Our children participate in the Playing and Learning to Socialise programme which helps our children to understand emotions and the positive way to communicate their wants and needs. The programme is taught through puppets and role play. Children also explore the opportunities to discuss different feelings through our Box Full of Feelings.
